The List - Content Section Menu Item adds a link that will display a list of the categories in the selected section. The number of content items in the Category can be displayed beside the Category name. Selecting the link to the Category will present a tabular list of content items in a particular Section Category.

Details:
Title : Type here the name of the Menu Item as it will appear on the menu on your site. If you leave this blank the Section name will be automatically used.

Section: Here you may select a specific section among sections published in your site as shown on the list accessed through Content -> Section Manager.

On Click, Open in : Here you may select among 3 possibilities. Parent Window With Browser Navigation is the same window you call the link from, New Window with Browser Navigation is a full featured new window, New Window Without Browser Navigation is a new pop-up window with just scroll bars which may be resized.

Parent Item : Select Top if you want the menu item to appear at the same level as your primary navigation. You can also put the menu item under an existing menu item by selecting that existing menu item as the parent.

Ordering: Use this pull-down menu to select the item after which the item will appear. By default, Joomla adds new items to the end of the list. After creating an item, you can change its order when editing.

Access Level: Sets who can view this item.

Published: Sets whether the menu item is published or not. By default, new menu items are set to be published.

Parameters:
Menu Image: Allows you to set an image that would appear to the left or right of the menu item. The image must be placed in the /images/stories directory, and the Show Menu Items option must be set to Yes in the menu's listing in the Module Manager [site] (Modules -> Site Modules).

Section Title: Show/Hide the section title.

Page Class Suffix: Allows you to set customized styles for this page. The suffix you type here is automatically added to the CSS classes for this page.

Back Button: Controls whether to show or hide a "Back" text link that would appear on the bottom of the page and return the user to the previously viewed page. The pull down lets select Use Global to use the parameter as defined globally through the Site->Global Configuration, Hide or Show.

Order by: Controls the order that the categories will be displayed on the section page. In this drop-down menu, one of the following options can be selected:

  • Default: Arranges categories according to the order set in the Category Manager (Content -> Category Manager)
  • Title Alphabetical: Arranges categories in alphabetical order
  • Title Reverse-Alphabetical: Arranges categories in reverse alphabetical order
  • Ordering: Arranges categories according to the order set in the Category Manager (Content -> Category Manager)

Category List - Section: Show/Hide the list of categories in List View page.

Description: Show/Hide the descriptions for each category. The descriptions appear under the category name.

Description Image: Show/Hide the images contained in category descriptions.

Category List - Category: Show/Hide the list of categories in Table view page.

Empty Categories: Show/Hide the categories with no items published.

# Category Items: Show/Hide the number of items in each category.

Category Description: Hides or shows the description of each category. The category descriptions are defined on the category pages, which are accessible in the Category Manager (Content -> Category Manager).

Date Format: Sets the format for the dates of items to be displayed on the section’s category pages. (See the Administration Manual for detailed information)

Date Column: Show/Hide the column on the section's category pages that shows items' dates. You can use the option set in the Global Configuration page (Site -> Global Configuration) by setting this option to Use Global or you can override the Global Configuration setting (for the category pages only) by setting this option to Show or Hide.

Author Column: Show/Hide the column on the section's category pages that shows items' authors. You can use the option set in the Global Configuration page (Site -> Global Configuration) by setting this option to Use Global or you can override the Global Configuration setting (for the category pages only) by setting this option to Show or Hide.

Title Column: Show/Hide the column on the section's category page that shows item titles.

Hits Column: Show/Hide the column on the section,s category page that shows the number of hits for each item. You can use the option set in the Global Configuration page (Site -> Global Configuration) by setting this option to Use Global or you can override the Global Configuration setting (for the category pages only) by setting this option to Show or Hide.

Table Headings: Show/Hide on the section's category pages the headings (Date, Item Title, Author, and Hits).

Navigation Bar: Show/Hide the Navigation bar on the section's category pages. The Navigation bar shows links to other pages on the list of items of category pages (such as << Start < Prev 1 2 Next > End >> ).

Order Select: Show/Hide the Order Select dropdown on the section's category pages. The Order Select dropdown provides several options for your site's users to change the order in which the items are displayed on the category page (See the administration Manual for more information). Changes that users make in the Order Select don't affect the display for other users.

Display Select: Show/Hide the Display Number dropdown (detailed below) on the section's category pages.

Display Number: Sets the default number of items to be displayed in the Display Number dropdown on the section's category pages.

Filter: Show/Hide the Filter text box on the section's category pages.

Filter Field: Controls which field the filter applies to. Options are Author (item's Author) Title (item's title) and Hits (number of hits that the item has had).
